The CEAS symposium “Sustainability and Resilience in East Asia” at Biosphere 2 was successfully held on Nov. 11, 2023. Open to both the local public and to virtual audiences online, this event brings scholars across various disciplines to dialogue with each other regarding environmental problems and awareness in East Asia.

In the morning, our invited speakers Dr. Hai Ren, Dr. Rain Liu, and Dr. Lisa Schrenk gave keynote talks addressing environmental resilience, thinking through the concept of the Asian Anthropocene, eco-friendly actions, and architectural reconstruction. Our presenters in the afternoon session also shared their diverse research and projects, including virtual field experiences, waterscapes in both rural communities and Mongolian sound practices, as well as the concept of self-sufficiency in urban space.
