Benefits
The Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) is an institutional member of Association for Asian Studies (AAS), and Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA). As such, we can provide the following benefits each year to University of Arizona students and faculty:
Association for Asian Studies (AAS)
Five graduate student AAS memberships (free); five regular memberships ($50 off discount). AAS memberships also include access to the AAS Career Center. For the benefits, please visit: https://www.asianstudies.org/institutional-membership/

The benefit will be given out on a first-come-first-serve basis, until all the spots are filled.
Chinese Language Teachers Association (CLTA)

All complementary memberships have been given out for academic year 2024-2025.
Modern Languages Association (MLA)
University of Arizona—College of Humanities is a Strategic Partnership Network (SPN) member of MLA, 2023-2024.
MLA Strategic Partnership Network membership extends the resources of the Modern Language Association, the largest professional association in the humanities, to all your departments and programs whose faculty members work in language, literature, linguistics, culture, area studies, film and performance studies, writing studies, digital humanities, and more. This new structure gives access to the professional development, research, and advocacy resources of the MLA for anyone at your institution who works in the humanities. Eligibility
All applicants must be affiliated with the University of Arizona. Additionally graduate students and faculty must also meet the following guidelines.
Faculty Members
Faculty must be affiliated with CEAS. If you are not yet affiliated with us but your work is related to East Asia, please contact CEAS (EAS-Center@arizona.edu) for affiliation.
Graduate Students
Your study, research, or presentation needs to be judged by CEAS staff as sufficiently relating to East Asia.
Application
All interested parties must contact Alice Yu, the Associate Director of CEAS, CEAS (EAS-Center@arizona.edu). Please provide the following information:
- Name
- Home department
- Level of study (student)/Job title (faculty)
- Academic advisor (student only)
- Which benefit are you applying for?
- Are you going to present at the annual conference? (Note: Although you do not have to be a presenter at the conference to qualify for these benefits, we will prioritize those who intend to present their research for the available complementary conference registrations.)
