On the evening of October 28, the global finals and awards ceremony for the 17th Chinese Bridge—Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students, along with the 4th Chinese Bridge—Chinese Show for Foreign Primary School Students, took place in Tianjin, China.

This year, 181 primary and secondary school contestants from 102 countries gathered in Beijing and Tianjin for a grand celebration of Chinese language learning and cultural exchange. Over a period of 15 days filled with competitions and cultural activities, contestants explored iconic landmarks in China, including the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square.

CEAS congratulates Higley High School senior Carson Wengert 卫凯森, who competed in the global finals and earned 2nd place, missing 1st place by just 0.44 points. Earlier this year, Carson won 1st place in the CLTA-AZ Chinese Speech Contest and participated in CEAS’s STARTALK program in the summer. His teacher is Ms. Panna Leatherby.

We are proud of you, Carson!
